The Kayak trip to Cloghoughter Castle on a rare warm, balmy June evening, is one of the most tranquil of journeys. The water is utterly calm, till the touch of an oar and the glide of a kayak breaks the perfection, creating ripples that echo into the beyond. In the distance lies the castle, once the base of the O’Reilly clan, but destroyed by Cromwellian forces, its broken walls a curiosity, and the tiny island, a welcome break for tired arms, before the homeward journey.

Art to me, is storytelling a means to visually capture the atmosphere and tell the tales behind our landscape or capture the essence of that person’s character.
